Another rumor has emerged regarding Manchester United's activities in the transfer market. The Red Devils are reportedly interested in signing Christian Pulisic from Chelsea.
United indeed needs new reinforcements if they want to reclaim the Premier League title. This season, they only finished in third place.
Manager Erik ten Hag has openly stated that his team needs fresh faces if they want to be more competitive next season.
According to the latest reports, United is directing its radar towards Chelsea. They are interested in signing Mason Mount from the Blues. However, ESPN states that Mount is not the only player they are looking to acquire.
The Red Devils are also eyeing Pulisic. Ten Hag has reportedly been interested in recruiting the American player for quite some time.
He has been impressed with Christian Pulisic's talent since his time at Borussia Dortmund and believes that he has above-average skills.
Additionally, Pulisic can play in multiple positions equally well. This versatility is clearly valuable when many players are injured.
As a sign of their seriousness, United is said to have initiated communication with Chelsea and inquired about the player's price tag.
On the other hand, they have already contacted Pulisic's agent. Manchester United is aware of the salary expectations he has.
Previously, Ten Hag was confident that he could persuade Mount to join his project at Old Trafford. However, United faces strong competition.
Other Premier League clubs, such as Liverpool and Arsenal, are also interested in Mount. They also want to enhance their midfield options.
So far, there has been no response from Mount. The former Derby County player has one year left on his current contract with Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is reported to have set a price tag of £70 million for Mason Mount ahead of the summer transfer window. The Blues do not want to lose a key player on a free transfer.
The playmaker claims to have enjoyed a highly successful spell at Stamford Bridge. The English player has already won the Champions League and contributed 33 goals and 37 assists in 192 appearances for Chelsea since 2019.
However, his contract situation often sparks speculation that he may be allowed to leave the West London club at the end of the season.
Manchester United secured a third-place finish in the Premier League in the 2022/2023 season after a 2-1 victory over Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday (May 28, 2023). This means that the Champions League will return to the Theatre of Dreams.
With qualification for the Champions League, Ten Hag hopes to receive a significant transfer budget this summer. He wants to shape United into a team that can play the style of football he desires.
Furthermore, the Dutch tactician also wants a United squad that can handle the demands of competing in the Champions League. Therefore, he aims to bring in several new players this summer.
